The Family History Show, Online is gearing up for its return on Saturday 19th February 2022.

 

You’ll have the opportunity to put your research questions to an expert, watch professionally produced talks and to speak to family history societies, archives and genealogical suppliers by text, audio, video chat or email from the comfort of your own home.

 

You will also be able to submit your questions to the Ask the Experts panel before the show and you have a choice to either book a free 1-to-1 session or to watch the question panel at 15:30 where our experts answer your questions!

 Jackie’s talk shows you how to follow the life of an ancestor, using key family history sources, plus more from maps to house history

 

Solving Genealogy Brickwalls: A Case Study – Amelia Bennett – Expert Researcher, Census Detective with the SOG

 This talk uses an example from Amelia’s own family history where she progressed a brickwall using DNA alongside traditional genealogy research. The path to solving this brickwall had a number of surprises along the way with forgeries, quick marriages, criminal ancestors and often more questions than answers. In telling the story, methods and tools for using DNA to break down brickwalls are provided.

 

The Joy of Surnames – Debbie Kennett – DNA & Surname Expert and Writer 

 Each surname has its own story to tell. This lecture provides an overview of the history and distribution of surnames with a focus on surnames originating in the British Isles. The one-name study approach can provide breakthroughs that would not be possible by restricting research to your own family tree.

A New South-West of England Family History Show is coming!

News:

With the success of the Discover Your Ancestors Family History Shows’ sell-out London event the organisers have now announced the introduction of a new South-West of England Show to be held in the Exhibition Centre at the University of West of England, Bristol.

The organisers have some great offers on these new shows and they now all feature an enhanced format.

2019 will see the extremely popular Ask the Experts section at all of The Family History Shows events, along with the ever popular lecture theatres with expert genealogical speakers. Free talks will be held throughout the day by DNA experts, Military Historians and other experts at each event.

 

You can see a video of interviews with some of the many happy exhibitors at The Family History Show, London to see how well received these events are. Comments from the stall holders included just how busy they had been throughout the day and what a friendly environment the venue had been. Other exhibitors mentioned what an excellent fair it had been with a good turn out and many interesting stalls that had engaged and impressed those visiting the event.

The large crowds of show visitors testified to the public’s willingness to support both the York and the London events. In fact The Family History Show, London doubled its size in 2018 and drew visitors from all over.

The Family History Show – London Saturday 22nd September

Don’t miss The Family History Show London, the major event of the genealogical calendar.

With many new features to help with your research, free lectures, and free parking. This year it’s taking place at the larger Surrey Hall at Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, with more exhibitors and an additional lecture area.
